Abstract

Nowadays, users are more interested in “the enjoyment gained from the products” instead of the products themselves. The success of product design depends on whether the user’s needs can be met. Luh (2007) proposed the User Successive Design (USD), which consists of seven steps and four features. The product designed according to this concept is the USD product. The products that facilitate user’s creativity can be viewed as a creativity platform. This paper aims to develop a platform design product with tolerance of non-errors, we have selected the backpack and furniture as our practical case studies, and successfully pass the steps of the follow-up expert to check the USD characteristics. The research proposes a methodological process of product design for enterprises and designers to develop products with open design right. “User successive designing” differs from modularization and customization and unveils the new economics values of “experience and emotion”.
