Abstract
Well-being is an experience people have and not an academic construct. Well-being as reported by people can be used to identify the relevant drivers in a particular population as well as to assess the success of public policy. The well-being reported by citizens is the central criterion to know whether policies are making an impact not only on the dashboard of indicators but, fundamentally, on the experience of being well citizens have.
