Abstract

The pilot study on a sample of 30 middle and bottom level practitioners representing different industries have shown that their knowledge about Industry 4.0 is rather poor. One of the reasons that we have decided to test is that the practices of human capital management do not prepare the employee to the industrial revolution that already has started. The main objective of this article is to check if the human capital management practices that are used have any meaning for implementing the Industry 4.0 technologies that refer to means of automation and data exchange in the value chain. The research was conducted on a sample of 100 medium and large sized enterprises operating in Poland representing different industries. To get data a questioner were prepared and the answers were collected with use of CATI method. The respondents were middle and high level production and engineering managers. After processing the data enabled elaboration of some implication advises which can be helpful for managers to modify the human capital management process when entering the path of Industry 4.0.
