Abstract
The Spanish Nuclear Power Plants are currently incorporating the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 805, “Performance-Based Standard for Fire Protection for Light Water Reactor Electric Generating Plants”. The main requirement from this standard is to provide a reasonable assurance that a fire initiated at any plant location with any plant configuration will not prevent the plant to achieve safe shutdown. This paper develops the process of Human Factors Engineering (HFE) validation of scenarios related to fire events. The document describes the preparation, presents the validation strategy, and shows the results and recommendations obtained in terms of human performance.
