Abstract
Product family design is a widely applied design strategy for maintaining a brand image. Especially in the field of automotive styling has developed a mature family design. However, there are also many problems with family design. The lack of change in family design not only limits the designer’s play, but also makes consumers feel boring. This paper presents a method based on Kansei engineering for automobile family design. The objective of the method is to retains the brand identity without using rigid family elements by directly study the semantics of the design features.
