Abstract

Sometimes, we do our learning backwards—after years of practice, amazingly simple insights finally reveal themselves. This chapter attempts to help jumpstart one’s understanding and, indeed, appreciation of cytology as a subspecialty—how it is different and yet similar to histopathology and what cytology can and can’t do. In this chapter, the Triple Approach is introduced—clinical information, cytology and ancillary tests, and I will also share some concrete tips to improve one’s diagnostic proficiency.
