Frontiers of Computer Science - CFP: Special Section on Recent Developments in Security and Privacy Paradigm for Big Data with Internet of Everything (IoE)

Advances in technology and computing always have a profound impact on social and economic progression. Internet of Everything (IoE) is one such technological advancement that represents an interconnected network of people, processes, data and things. In recent years, IoE is creating unprecedented opportunities for business organizations, individuals, and communities to realize dramatically greater values from the connected entities. However, with these advances in one way or the other, the everyday utilities and devices we use are connected to the internet. Big data and network intelligence are the two major enablers of the IoE environment that enhances the scalability, manageability, and controllability of the increasing growth in network connectivity. Since IoE makes all the connections (new person, process, pieces of data, and things) that come online more relevant and valuable, they are subject to numerous security and privacy concerns. On the other hand, the rapidly growing big data from IoE applications, in turn, add incredible value by transferring the data from the context-aware machines into more actionable information, which creates a considerable amount of impacts on the IoE environment from a security and privacy perspective.

With a clear view of the functioning of the IoE applications, it is very obvious that there are many chances of sensitive information leakage through unauthorized manipulation. This unauthorized access can also lead to security breaches and can be harmful to a consumer network. From a broader standpoint, the path towards digitalization will further impose millions of security and privacy threats across the IoE systems.  It is mandatory to fulfil the essential security requirements such as confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation measures. Hence, exploring more in the view of security and privacy for IoE becomes crucially important. Furthermore, the growing trends of IoE, such as smart environments, smart cities, smart homes, wearable gadgets, and autonomous transportation, in turn, impose more advanced security and privacy requirements. This special section intends to analyze the very real risks and security challenges that are inherent to IoE environments. We welcome novel and innovative security and privacy solutions for IoE, which emphasize more on the modern security issues and challenges.

Topics of interest include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Effective ways to protect the wealth of IoE data using security and privacy measures
  • Traffic models in IoE environments and its influences on the security and privacy
  • Secure network architectures and frameworks for IoE
  • Access control and authorization mechanisms for IoE
  • Data access management and authentication
  • New frontiers in Internet of Everything security paradigms
  • Cyber-attack resistant security solutions for IoE
  • Ensuring data integrity and confidentiality across IoE networks
  • New improved data encryption techniques for IoE
  • Advanced security and privacy protocols for IoE
  • Trust management across IoE environment
