Frontiers of Computer Science - CFP: Excellent Young Computer Scientists Vision on AI for Science

Frontiers of Computer Science (FCS) was launched in 2007. It is published bimonthly both online and in print by HEP and Springer. It is indexed by SCI(E), EI, DBLP, Scopus, etc. The latest IF is 4.2, ranking among the top 25% of all journals in the field of Computer Science in WOS.

Dear Esteemed Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the call for papers for the inaugural issue of the Frontiers of Computer Science journal, titled “Excellent Young Computer Scientists Vision on AI for Science”. This initiative is dedicated to showcasing the visionary ideas and perspectives of young computer scientists in the rapidly evolving field of AI and its application to scientific domains.

AI for Science refers to the application of AI technologies in various scientific fields, from physics and chemistry to biology and environmental sciences. For centuries, the method of discovery—the fundamental practice of science that scientists use to explain the natural world systematically and logically—has remained largely the same. Artificial intelligence (AI) holds tremendous promise in having an impact on the way scientific discovery is performed today at the fundamental level. AI's capability to process vast amounts of data, recognize patterns and generate insights is transforming scientific research, accelerating discoveries, and proposing novel approaches to long-standing scientific challenges.

The focus of this call is on the innovative use, challenges, and future potential of AI for science. We invite submissions from AI applications to all fields of scientific discovery, ranging from physics, biology, chemistry, earth science, environmental science, mechanical science, aerospace science, management science, agricultural science, material science, nuclear science, etc. Each paper should be formatted as a letter, with a maximum length of 3 pages. We welcome both online and invited submissions. This call aims to spur discussions and share knowledge on the revolutionary role of AI in science, particularly from the perspective of young, dynamic researchers.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Innovative Artificial Intelligence Methodologies for Tackling Complex Scientific Challenges
  • The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Accelerating Scientific Discovery and Hypothesis Generation
  • Ethical Considerations in the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence
  • Mitigating and Understanding Bias in AI-Based Scientific Data Analysis
  • Collaborative Artificial Intelligence Systems for Interdisciplinary Scientific Research
  • Scaling Artificial Intelligence for Big Scientific Data: Challenges and Solutions
  • Future Outlook for Artificial Intelligence in Theoretical Science: From Concepts to Applications, etc.

Key Dates:

Submission Deadline:            2024/09/30

Notification of Acceptance:        2024/10/31

Final Manuscript Due:            2024/11/31

Submission Guidelines:

Each paper should be formatted as a LETTER, with a maximum length of 3 pages. Besides, the first author or the corresponding author must not exceed 45 years old. Please state your age in the cover letter, otherwise, manuscript would be returned.
