Abstract

Pietrino Belli was a jurist of the Piedmont. He served Philip II of Spain as a counselor of war and Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy as a counselor of state. He wrote a significant treatise on the laws of war and the restoration of peace, De re militari et bello tractatus (1563).
