Abstract

Abraham ben Meir de Balmes, born in Lecce, in Southern Italy, and active in Padua and Venice, belonged to a group of Jewish thinkers who participated in the Renaissance movement of translation of medieval Arabic philosophical and scientific works. In addition to his translation activity, he is particularly known for his Hebrew-Latin grammar, Miqneh Avram (The Flock of Abram; Gen. 13:7).
