Abstract
Celio Secondo Curione was one of the leading philologists of late Renaissance Europe. At the same time, he was a very complex figure from a religious point of view. Exiled from Italy because of his religious positions, he came into conflict with Protestants themselves, who eventually put him under trial for his theory of universal salvation and his tolerant conception of religion.
