Takeshi Tamura, M.D., Ph.D.
Introduction
Takeshi Tamura, M.D., Ph.D., has been a child and adolescent psychiatrist for over 30 years. Tamura has used his extensive knowledge in diverse cultures to focus his research on multiple issues in the family such as connectedness and separateness, traditional gender roles, adolescents in crisis, social withdrawal, and cultural factors between the eastern and west societies.
Career
Tamura received his M.D. in medicine and Ph.D. in psychiatry at the University of Tsukuba. Tamura lived in London as the British Council Scholarship Fellow and received family therapy training at the Tavistock Clinic and the Institute of Family Therapy. Tamura received his M.Sc. degree in family therapy from the Birkbeck College, University of London. During his mid-twenties, Tamura started his clinical practice as a psychiatrist in various psychiatric hospitals in the Tokyo area.
