Definition

Free expression is a principle that supports freedom of an individual or a community to share their opinions without any fear, or legal censorship.

Freedom of expression includes freedom to hold opinions and ideas and to receive and impart information without restrictions by state authorities [Article 10: Freedom of expression].

Freedom of speech tolerates those with minority views and opinions that often speak to its performance on human rights more generally [Human Rights Watch].
