Bureaucracy, in the context of gender, refers to the actor which can contribute to the formulation and implementation of policies that will ensure equal representation of women and men, equally.

Introduction

The term “Bureaucracy” can be explained in various contexts. In this chapter, it is aimed to approach it in gender perspective. This perspective, naturally, has an interdisciplinary character; therefore, the analysis is limited by following subtopics: Historical Roots of the Gender of the Bureaucracy, Bureaucracy as a Mechanism to Ensure Gender Equality, Bureaucracy as a Policy Actor that can Contribute to Gender Equality.
