Definition
Pollution is the introduction of human-made, physical, and chemical substances into the environment that cause harm to people and other living organisms. Commonly, pollution results from people interacting with the environment, and those human activities pollute the environment, adversely affecting drinking water, soil, and air. Investigation of environmental pollution dumping is a fact-gathering process to determine whether pollution was intentionally dumped with indifference to the law and/or the harm that pollution actually or potentially causes.

This entry describes the areas and factors by which investigations determine how environmental pollution became concentrated, known as pollution dumping.
