Introduction

Bearing in mind that women make up more than half of the population and despite many efforts to ensure them adequate access to decision-making, they are still underrepresented. Although some progress in this field has been made, it has no linear character, so without permanent targeted activities, a backlash is always possible.

Why women remain so underrepresented in leadership roles? As, i.e., United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Institute for Statistics (UIS 2018) data show, they are often better educated; however it does not translate automatically into participation in decision-making.
