Definition
Definition of migrants varies from organization to organization according to the focus and objectives of the respective organizations. For the purpose of this entry, we draw insights from Human Rights Watch (HRW) and International Organization for Migration (IOM) under UN to define migrants. Migrants are the people living and working outside their country of origin, and it is considered as an umbrella term, not defined under international law, reflecting the common lay understanding of a person who moves away from his or her place of usual residence, whether within a country or across an international border, temporarily or permanently, and for a variety of reasons.
