Definition

Migration is considered as the movement of people across the borders within a state or at international level that constitute both internal and international migration. International migration happens when persons shift their usual residence, state of birth, or habitual residence to a new country where they are not citizens in a permanent or temporary basis in regular or documented manner, whereas internal migration occurs when people move within a country to a new place to establish a different residence in temporary or permanent basis within their country of origin. Factors that constitute both international and internal migrations could be similar or different depending upon the situations. In the case of international migration, the country which receives or invites migrants is the “host country” which is also known as “country of destination,” and the “country of origin” becomes important in the case of return or repatriation of migrants.
