Woman-centered pedagogies address the interrelationship between gender equality, intersectionality, and access to and attainment through education.

Introduction

According to bell hooks (1994, p. 13), “the classroom remains the most radical space of possibility in the academy.” With the rise of education theory and praxis as a legitimate area of analysis within feminist studies, there also emerges the challenge of addressing pedagogical approaches which are more egalitarian and inclusive of all. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (UNSDG5) focuses not only on targeting all forms of discrimination against women and girls, but also on the factors which prevent full engagement in public life and the enjoyment of health and liberty (United Nations [UN] 2015).
