Definitions

Manufacturing industries are currently marching toward the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), often called smart manufacturing or Factory of the Future (FoF). In essence, FoF seeks to reshape the value chain to adapt to changing market and technology but is not focused on providing solutions to the ecological problems. When Factory of the Future is headed for sustainable development, with a view to shifting traditional production to a more environmentally friendly way and to promote sustainable and innovative manufacturing, it also could be considered a Factory for the Future.
