Definition

Globalization has existed for centuries. Over the years it has spawned a wide range of definitions, hardening with time into a concept of blurred interpretational boundaries. Broadly, it can be defined as a process of global economic and cultural interconnectedness that accelerated in terms of complexity from the 1400s on, fueled initially by developments in exchange relations and evolutions in maritime technology. Then and now, it involves a process through which economic, political, ideological, and military power is diffused across national boundaries.
