- Child:
-
Any individual who is below the age of majority as prescribed by the prevailing legal standards of the country. United Nations definition of an individual below 18 years has been considered as the internationally agreed definition on child. The term also encompasses certain other categories, such as infant, toddler, teenager, etc. depending on the age groups into which they fall.
- Child Labor:
-
A child or an individual who is underage as prescribed by that particular law, is said to be performing Child Labor when he or she is forced to perform certain work that is detrimental to their physical and mental well-being and impacts their holistic development in a negative manner, often curbing their potential and depriving them of a dignified childhood. Child labour has been defined in several different ways (ILO and UNICEF 2021).
