Definition
Agriculture is a diverse, multifunctional economic activity across a majority of human cultures. Through the production and use of agricultural products, goods, and/or services, agriculture insures food security, people’s nutrition, and quality of life.

Agriculture causes disturbance to all terrestrial ecosystems affected by this conversion in land management and, despite its successes that since ancient times have contributed to a rise of civilizations, eventually these came to their demise due also to a collapse of farming systems (Diamond 2011). Pringle (1998) conceded that since the transition from hunting and gathering to agriculture around 10,000 years ago, agricultural production and the humankind have been fatefully intertwined.
