Definition
Water, its use and availability, has become a critical issue of concern in the contemporary world. There are predictions that the third world war would be fought over water such is its magnitude and importance to the life, society, and industry. Water crisis can be identified from the outcomes that can be exhibited from the cases related to human well-being that could be grouped into six syndromes – groundwater depletion, ecological destruction, drought-driven conflicts, unmet subsistence needs, resource capture by elite, and water reallocation to nature (Srinivasan et al. 2010). “Water crisis is a situation where the available potable, unpolluted water within a region is less than that region’s demand” (Science daily 2019). World Water Vision Report states that “There is a water crisis today. But the crisis is not about having too little water to satisfy our need.
