Abstract
Embryology provides the basis for the understanding of human anatomy – as a field, it has expanded exponentially following advances in molecular and experimental techniques. An understanding of embryogenesis and the subsequent congenital anomalies is a necessity for the pediatric urologist, giving a foundation for the appropriate clinical management of such conditions. This chapter will focus on key events in the development of the urogenital tract – two entirely different components intimately interwoven embryologically and anatomically.
