Stomas of Small and Large Intestine

Abstract

This chapter includes recommendations to create stomas in pediatric patients suffering from anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung’s disease. However, some of the basic principles presented here are also applicable for the creation of the stoma used as part of the treatment of other conditions.

A list of the most common complications observed is presented, with suggestions on the way to prevent them and the best possible treatment when they occur.
