Zusammenfassung

Eine Task Force der Internationalen Liga gegen Epilepsie (ILAE) hat 2015 eine neue Definition des Status epilepticus herausgegeben. Danach ist der Status epilepticus ein Zustand anhaltender Anfallsaktivität, bei dem entweder die Mechanismen versagen, die für die Beendigung des Anfalls verantwortlich sind, oder bei dem Mechanismen initiiert werden, die den Anfall abnorm andauern lassen. Entsprechend den verschiedenen Anfallsformen gibt es auch verschiedene Formen des Status epilepticus.
