Zusammenfassung
Als multiple Systematrophie (MSA) bezeichnet man eine sporadische, progrediente neurodegenerative Erkrankung mit in unterschiedlicher Reihenfolge und Kombination auftretenden Symptomen einer Funktionsstörung des autonomen Nervensystems und eines Parkinson-Syndroms (MSA-P) oder einer Kleinhirnerkrankung (MSA-C). So fasst die MSA die Erkrankungen zusammen, die früher als striatonigrale Degeneration, sporadische olivopontozerebelläre Atrophie und Shy-Drager-Syndrom bezeichnet wurden. Etwa 70 % der Patienten zeigen Parkinson-Symptome, die aber nur bei einem Drittel durch Gabe von L-Dopa vorübergehend gebessert werden können.
