Zusammenfassung
Tumoren des Ventrikelsystems entstehen aus den Zellen der Auskleidung des Ventrikelsystems (Ependymom, Subependymom) oder seines Inhalts, des Plexus chorioideus (Plexuspapillom, Plexuskarzinom). Ein seltener Tumor der subependymalen Matrix ist das Neurozytom, das von neuroglialen Vorläuferzellen, die sich zumeist im Bereich der Foramina Monroi befinden, ausgeht. Darüber hinaus finden sich im Plexus auch Hämangioblastome, Ventrikelmeningeome, Metastasen und Tumoren, die sich ausgehend von anderen Lokalisationen in den Ventrikel einstülpen. Letztere sind keine eigentlichen Ventrikeltumoren.
