Abstract
Dermatology is both a conservative and an operative subject. Analogous to other organ subjects, surgical therapy procedures on the skin are indispensable to the dermatologist’s treatment spectrum. Sound knowledge of the biology and function of the skin, as well as of pathophysiology and histopathology, enables the dermatologist to determine an optimal therapy for the individual patient from a variety of treatment options, whether surgical, conservative, or combined. The aim of dermatosurgical treatment is to provide an indication-oriented, prognostic, and gentle therapy with aesthetic aspects.
