Abstract

Patients with uveitis may develop significant visual morbidity due to development of secondary cataract. The surgical management of cataract among patients with uveitis may be very challenging in cases with severe, uncontrolled inflammation, as well as in patients with small pupil, iris atrophy, and cornea complications such as band-shaped keratopathy. With newer surgical instrumentation, better intraocular lens designs, and wide range of immunosuppressants, the outcome of patients with uveitic cataracts has greatly improved. The following chapter describes cases of complicated cataracts that were successfully managed surgically in different settings of ocular inflammation.
