Abstract

Chikungunya virus is a single-stranded RNA virus. It causes debilitating disease which is characterized by the presence of fever and joint pains. Ocular manifestations of chikungunya fever include anterior uveitis, viral retinitis, and optic neuritis. Real-time polymerase reaction and chikungunya IgM antibodies are useful to confirm the clinical diagnosis. Since there are no specific antiviral drugs available to treat the chikungunya infection, systemic and ocular manifestations are managed symptomatically. This chapter will highlight the ocular manifestations of chikungunya fever with few case examples.
