Abstract

Primary frosted branch angiitis is characterized by widespread translucent retinal perivascular sheathing of both arterioles and venules in association with variable amount of anterior segment inflammation, vitritis, retinal edema, and visual loss. The exact etiology is unknown although the onset is typically after a multifactorial prodromal illness. An atypical, focal form of frosted branch angiitis may be seen in other causes of intraocular inflammation such as cytomegalovirus retinitis. The condition usually responds well to systemic steroids, rarely needing additional immunosuppressive therapy. The index chapter describes three cases of frosted branch angiitis associated with various clinical conditions.
