Introduction
In Chinese mainland, teacher rotation policy has been regarded as a measure to enhance the balanced development of compulsory education between different areas within the locality. Since 1996, the Chinese government has advocated teacher rotation in its policy about the teacher workforce building. Since then, there are 19 policy texts which are relevant to the theme. These policies are characteristic of helping under developed or rural areas to enhance their educational quality. In 2014, the ministry of education in the PRC has issued a policy named “Suggestions on Promoting Rotation of Principals and Teachers in compulsory education within Counties (City Districts),” it has deployed specifically the work of teacher rotation policy for local government.
This entry will first put teacher rotation policy in the context of educational development in the Chinese context to examine aims of the policy. Then it will summarize forms of teacher rotation emerged from different parts...
