Introduction

The purpose of this entry is to highlight content and pedagogical knowledge as part of a teacher’s professional knowledge base and, how collectively, they can impact upon a teacher’s confidence and competence to teach primary physical education (PE). In addition, this entry will further indicate how these knowledge bases might be improved through the process of reflective practice and how PE teacher educators can support preservice teachers (PSTs) to develop their pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) through different reflective methods.
