Brazilian education undergoes a process of constant movement regarding educational policies which are the mainstay for teaching practices. Current legislation, at Federal level, has been through different tensions before reaching establishment. With the Federal Constitution of 1988, the right to education was legitimized, thus requiring an update of educational policies. In 1996, the adequacy of the new Lei de Diretrizes e Bases– LDB (Law of Guidelines and Bases) was completed, going into effect throughout the national territory. Grounded on that, the National Curriculum Guidelines for Basic Education were built. The most updated version is from 2013. Finally, in 2017, the Common National Curricular Base was established, a document that mobilized teachers and specialists from all over the country to discuss and build the new educational legislation, which ended up receiving modifications, questioned by several educational segments, moments before its approval.
